Collaborating with other University Students and Photographers is probably one of my favourite tasks to do outside of University. In January 2018, we were given the task of collaborating with Jewellery/ Metalwork students to help set up a photography shoot inspired by the designs they created. This involved me and 3 other people collaborating with both Jewellery students and also Photography students to create the perfect shoot for the client.
Below show the final edited image from the first collaboration. This student was an international student from China, so there was a slight misunderstanding of communication a few times but we managed to get an idea of her inspiration and why she created her final outcomes. Her farther was a doctor and mainly looked into cells in the body which was her main inspiration. The student then began to look more into cells themselves and the way they looked and different shape forms they come in. This inspired her brooch jewellery piece which is shaped to look like a cell from the body. Within the shoot we wanted to also stick with the inspiration for the jewellery piece, as her father was a doctor we wanted this to be the main inspiration for the shoot, which lead us to using rubber gloves to link to a doctors gloves and also using hands on the models face to look as if she is being modified in a surgery room. We used the brooch to cover her eye to show it as a cell on the body to also link back to the students inspiration.

As the student was from China, she began to look into her own heritage as well as Japan's heritage and the history of the country's. Geisha's were her main inspiration and the way people pray within the countries heritage. The headpiece was made to represent the Geisha's but with a modern twist, using simple materials but with a hint of colour to represent the overall look of a Geisha. For the shoot we decided to use a model who fit the inspiration of the jewellery piece, such as a Chinese female. We used red eye make up and lipstick to link to the maroon colour used on the jewellery piece and Geisha's, but to also keep her in a simple white top to make the jewellery the main focus point. Working with the Photographers we wanted the jewellery piece to shadow onto the models face with a slight blue tint in the background to make the model and the jewellery to stand out from the background.
