Well this is something I thought I'd never say.... A poem written by me and my friend Isabella Andrews has been published on Vivienne Westwood's Blog. Entering a University Competition where we had to write either a short piece or poem about Tartan, our poem alongside 4 other students work were selected as the winning pieces and published on Vivienne Westwood's blog. Here's our poem:
Anarchy of colour,
Blue, green and red.
Beauty of the grid,
Fabric of the misread.
Song of the thread,
Twisted together.
Cris and cross of stripes,
Strings became one.
A multi-coloured knot,
Screaming with the loom.
Fighting against society,
The gathering mob’s royalty.
The mother of punk ripping up tradition,
Safety pin holding the new post position.
Anglo mania, a fabric of a nation,
Sex on the king’s road builds a strong foundation.
The punks beating pattern,
Too fast too live, too young to die.
Subculture’s attitude standing for their notion,
World’s end becomes perfectly outspoken.
Rhythm of the metal,
The crowds grow.
Stamped with their icon,
The mighty Tartan.
This is one of my up to date biggest achievements and something which I am highly proud of and will never forget. Vivienne Westwood is one of my favourite designers due to her weird and wonderful collections, always creating something which is highly creative and wacky. I would like to thank both my University and everyone who works for Vivienne Westwood's blog for the huge opportunity.
